They have had a response team on the island for a little over two weeks working on the logistics of importing the aid. Items to assist 2,000 families have now arrived from their stock they keep in Panama and a second team of response members are on the ground to help with the distribution.

The Haitian government did not want tents deployed so instead we are giving out ShelterKits which contain two large, heavy-duty tarps that can be used to repair a damaged structure or erect a temporary building. The ShelterKit includes basic hand tools for construction, longer handled tools for site clearance and preparation and the fasteners (nails, wire, rope) to put the solution together. In addition to this we plan to give each household a kitchen set, two solar lights, two thermal blankets, two sleeping mats, two mosquito nets, two Jerry cans (water carriers), and to help slow the spread of COVID: ten face masks and five bars of soap. The final package may have changed slightly before arrival but that puts the cost at about $300-$350 per family.

At the same time ShelterBox also has aid items for 3,000 families enroute to Mozambique in response to the displacement from recent conflict there.
